Parent Child Interaction Therapy

(PCIT)

Are you the parent of a young child who struggles with listening and frustration?

For some kids, it can be particularly challenging for them to manage their emotions at home. When you are trying to get your child ready to go to bed, does it seem like it always turns into a fight? Where even the normal day-to-day things have become much more challenging than they used to be with crying, huge meltdowns, and even aggression.

Raising a strong-willed child can be easier.

Strong willed children have a special set of behaviors that require specialized support. By working with you, you will learn how to build a stronger relationship with your child while managing these challenging behaviors.

Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) can help your family get back on track.

As one of the most research-supported treatments, PCIT is a highly effective treatment for children (ages 2.5-7) that teaches parents how to:

  • Learn positive communication skills

  • Build their child’s confidence and strengths

  • Set limits in a clear and non-reactive way

  • Manage challenging behaviors (e.g., aggression)

By changing the interactions within your family, your family will feel more calm every day. PCIT is a short-term treatment, with treatment lasting an average of 15 sessions. In PCIT, we coach you through utilizing these skills in the moment so that you feel confident that you’re interacting with your child in the most productive way.
